McNeilus Adds New Trimble DriveSafe System as No-cost Feature on Revolution Mixer Trucks
ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 17, 2004 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) and McNeilus Companies, Inc., North America's leading manufacturer of concrete mixers and batch plants, announced today that the companies are stepping up their commitment to customer safety and productivity by offering a brand new feature on McNeilus' Revolution composite mixer system-equipped trucks. Effective immediately, the new Telvisant® DriveSafe system from Trimble is available at no cost on purchases made now through August 15, 2004. The regular retail value is $695. Buyers will pay only the $19.95 monthly subscription fee per truck.
Developed in partnership with McNeilus, the Trimble DriveSafe system uses GPS technology to deliver detailed reports of how drivers of the McNeilus Revolution mixer operate their vehicles. The goal is to detect unsafe driving habits early so fleet owners can conduct targeted driver training and counseling programs to minimize accidents.
"This takes us into a whole new era of safety," reports Dan Lanzdorf, president of McNeilus Companies. "We worked together with Trimble to develop the program and are extremely excited about the results. Adding the DriveSafe system to our Revolution composite mixer will provide ready-mix producers with an easy-to-use tool for helping them turn their employees into better drivers."
Features of the DriveSafe system include:
- A truck-based mobile unit containing a computer processor, a GPS receiver and a wireless modem.
- Web-accessed data analysis and reporting tools.
- A secure database.
Once factory-installed on the McNeilus Revolution mixer, DriveSafe will measure and calculate scores for a variety of individual driving maneuvers, then compare those measurements to the average for the customer's fleet. From this analysis, supervisors can determine exactly what type of additional training is required for their drivers. In addition to helping maximize safety, the system can also help minimize extra expense caused by poor driving habits.
More complete details of the system are available from McNeilus and Trimble sales representatives at World of Concrete, booth #2800.
