Trimble Launches New Radio Solution for RTK GPS Surveying in Europe
SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 15, 2004 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) today introduced a new radio modem for the European survey market-the Trimble® PDL450 radio. The compact, rugged, Trimble PLD450 is ETSI-compliant (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) and offers high-performance, power-efficient operation for real-time kinematic (RTK) Global Positioning System (GPS) surveying including geodetic control, topographic, stakeout, cadastral, as-built and high-precision Geographic Information System (GIS) applications.
RTK surveying, which provides the highest level of GPS accuracy, requires a reference station and rover with a high-quality radio modem data link between the two.
The PDL450 radio offers surveyors a compact and easy-to-use radio modem that provides high-level, dependable performance as either a base, or repeater radio in even the toughest environments. Meeting licensing and approval requirements in most European countries, the lightweight and portable radio can be easily moved between projects.
With its integrated antenna and range pole mount, the unit is easily mounted in the place of a stand-alone antenna and eliminates the need for an antenna cable.
As part of Trimble's Integrated Surveying® product line, the PDL450 radio operates interchangeably as a base or repeater with other Trimble surveying components including the Trimble 5700, Trimble R7, Trimble 5800 or Trimble R8 RTK GPS receivers.
The Trimble PDL450 is expected to be available in Europe in July 2004 through Trimble's Geomatics and Engineering dealer network.
