Trimble Adds Recon GPS System to its Lineup
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 17, 2004 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) introduced today a new addition to its mobile Geographic Information System (GIS) product line-the Trimble® Recon GPS system. Built with Trimble's field-proven GPS technology, this complete and affordable system is priced at only US $1,495. The system consists of the rugged Trimble Recon data collector complete with Microsoft® Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs, a GPS receiver, antenna and navigation software. At this price point, the system is an ideal solution for any field workforce who wants to take advantage of powerful computing and GPS technology for mobile mapping and GIS applications.
Lightweight and portable with an all-day rechargeable battery, the Trimble Recon GPS system offers 2-5 meter accuracy, an industry standard open platform and postprocessing capabilities. The Trimble Recon data collector is compact, rugged and exceeds military specifications for drop, vibration, immersion and operating temperatures. It has two CompactFlash slots and supports qualified cards enabled with Bluetooth® wireless technology while the Windows Mobile open platform provides for easy customization and application development.

With Windows Mobile 2003 software comes standard Microsoft applications, including Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, Pocket Internet Explorer and Pocket Outlook, which deliver improved productivity by allowing seamless synchronization of files, tasks and appointments with an office PC.
In addition, Trimble is including a complimentary copy of the Microsoft Streets & Trips 2004 software for the U.S. and Canada or AutoRoute 2004 for Europe. These popular software packages contain comprehensive up-to-date maps, street data, points of interest and localized travel information for easier navigation and route planning.
The Trimble Recon GPS system is available now through the Company's Mapping and GIS distribution network.
